Mr S K Sharma is a Mechanical Engineer from IIT Kharagpur. He is the new Director (Gas) with the Federation of Petroleum Industry (FIPI).

Prior to joining FIPI, he was heading the CGD business of Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL). He was responsible for developing new CGD business of the Corporation from the grass root level and setting up a dedicated CGD group in IOCL in 26 new GAs on a stand-alone basis and 12 through JV route of IOAGPL and GGL, thereby establishing IOCL’s presence in 49 GAs.

He has been the Chairman of JV M/s IOAGPL (Indian Oil Adani Gas Pvt Ltd- CGD venture with 19 GAs) and JV M/s IOLPL- LNG Ennore Terminal (5MMTPA). In addition, he was also a Director in the Board of JV - GSPL India GASNET Ltd (GIGL-Mehsana-Bhatinda-Jammu-Srinagar- 2000 Km Gas PL Gas) and GSPL India TANSCO Ltd (GITL-Mallavaram-Bhopal-Bhilwara-Vijaipur -1800 Km Gas PL).

During his tenure of more than 38 years of working with IOCL, he has worked in various functions- Gas Business (including entire value chain of Gas Sourcing, Infrastructure development, CGD business, LNG by Road), Sales function in Divisional offices, State offices covering the major regions of the country viz Eastern Region (West Bengal), Western Region (M.P., Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Gujarat), Northern Region (Punjab, Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh, J&K and Ladakh) and in Marketing Head Office, Mumbai looking after Retail Sales function.
