Key developments in Oil & Gas sector
Monthly Production Report for May 2026
1. Production of Crude Oil
Indigenous crude oil and condensate production during May 2026 was 2.3 MMT. Around 77.7% of
production came from Nomination Fields, 12.3% from Pre-NELP Fields and 9.9% from NELP Fields, during
May 2026. There is a de-growth of 4.3% in crude oil and condensate production during May 2026 as
compared with the corresponding period of the previous year.
2. Production of Natural Gas
Net production of natural gas for the month of May 2026 was 2795 MMSCM which was higher by 1.67%
compared to April 2026.
3. Crude Oil Processed (Crude Throughput)
Total Crude oil processed during May 2026 was 22 MMT, which is -5.4% lower than May 2025, out of
which PSU/JV refiners processed 16 MMT and private refiners processed 6 MMT of crude oil. Total
indigenous crude oil processed was 2 MMT and total Imported crude oil processed was 20 by all Indian
refineries (PSU+JV+PVT). There was a de-growth of -3.8% in total crude oil processed in April-May during
current Financial Year as compared to same period of previous Financial Year.
4. Production of Petroleum Products
Production of petroleum products was 22.3 MMT during May 2026, which is -8.2% lower than May 2025.
Out of 22.3 MMT, 22 MMT was from refinery production & 0.3 MMT was from fractionator. There was a
de-growth of -4.3% in production of petroleum products in April-May FY 2025 – 26 as compared to same
period of FY 2024–25. Out of total POL production in May 2026, share of major products including HSD is
43.5%, MS 17.5%, Naphtha 6.5%, ATF 5.6%, Pet Coke 4.7%, LPG 6.3%, and rest is shared by Bitumen,
FO/LSHS, LDO, Lubes & others.
